About this centre
Established as a voluntary group in 1996.
The award winning community charity now deals with up to 6000 casualties a year operating out of its Casualty Centre in the middle of East Sussex, England. The organisation has a small fleet of veterinary ambulances, 170 volunteers and a small team of full and part time staff - included a veterinary surgeon.
The charities hospital has a veterinary theatre, X-ray facilities, ultrasound along with various casualties rooms, and rehabilitation facilities.
The organisation's centre is open:
Peak Season: 1st April to 30th September. 8am till 9pm.
Off Peak Season: 1st October to 31st March. 9am till 6pm.
Out of hours on-call, we are able to deal with urgent rescue up till 10pm at night. Atter 10pm and before 8/9am we are only able to deal with emergency calls which members of the public can't be expected to handle and transport to a veterinary centre themselves.
CURRENT RESTRICTIONS:
DEER: We have limited facilities for deer and general can only deal with antler entanglement or those trapped in confined spaces or compounds. We are NOT able to deal with road casualty deer.
SNAKES: We are currently unable to admit Adders into our centre. But can advise on other organisations which can be contacted.
OTTERS / BEAVERS: We don't general have these in our area, but would attend and assist, seeking advice from others, if necessary.
SEAL / CETACEANS: We are trained in dealing with these creatures but have limited facilities for admitting and holding seals long term.
